Explosion at Pertamina Depot In Papua

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: Explosion rocked a Pertamina fuel depot in Bo Village, Biak Papua setting one fuel storage tank on fire on Wednesday (8/4) night and killing local resident age four.

Panicked residences were cleared off the area as far as three kilometres from the site, and fire fighters contained the fire within three hours.

The explosion reportedly took place at around 22:30 local time (17:30 GMT), no detailed report on the extent of damages at the state company facility nor the effect of the damages.

The explosion came hours after an explosion near a military base, two bomb detonations and gunshots in other parts of the province.

It was the second blast at Pertamina facility in less than three months after the January 19th explosion at Pertamina depot in North Jakarta which killed one person and charred one tanker. No report has been published by Pertamina or the authorities on the cause of the blast in Jakarta.
